If you’re reading this blog then I’m guessing there’s a good chance you’re a BlackBerry addict!

There have been various reports over the years in the media about BlackBerry smartphones being likened to drugs, hence the nickname “CrackBerry”. The symptoms are where you are unable to spend more than a few minutes without getting the phone out and checking your phone and ignoring those around you.

After a bit more research, there are actually support groups for addicts to help them get off the drug (seriously)!

So why are these mobile devices so addictive? Many reports claim that the device becomes like a “comfort blanket” to its users and every fix from their phone gives them enough of a hit to make it through the next few minutes. What ever the reason for the addiction, everyone can be a victim, even President Obama!

Whilst we should all be willing to embrace new technology and move with the times, everyone needs to get that work/life balance sorted and relax their brain at least once a day. I found a solution to my BlackBerry addiction early on: Turn it off!
